Chargers for Small Electronics

That exact moment when your original "brick" burns out or gets lost — and your phone flashes pitifully at 4%. Sound familiar? A charger is an invisible item right up to the second it breaks. And then it suddenly turns out that it's arguably the most important accessory in the house. Your phone, headphones, watch, power bank, wireless mouse — all of this needs to be powered somehow.

Small electronics have multiplied so much that everyone already has about a dozen battery-powered devices at home. And everyone needs power. Therefore, a power adapter is not a "I'll buy it someday" thing, but a basic necessity. The only question is exactly which brick to get, because they are completely different.

Types of Chargers

There are plenty of types. Let's go over them briefly, without being boring.

  • Standard wall adapters (power bricks). The classic — plug it into a socket, connect the cable, charge. A simple 5–10W charging brick can still be found, but today this is the bare minimum. Suitable for slow overnight charging of a phone or headphones.
  • Fast charging bricks. Now this is interesting. A fast charging brick with Power Delivery or Quick Charge support pushes 50% into a phone in roughly 20–25 minutes. Rushing to head out? Drop it on the charger for a quarter of an hour — and you already have enough juice until evening. A high-speed charging brick is a must-have for those who live a fast-paced life.
  • Wireless chargers. A wireless charger works without a cable: put your phone on the pad — it charges. Magic? No, induction. Convenient on a desk or nightstand, no cable dangling around. The speed is slightly lower than wired, but there's not a single worn-out connector.
  • Multi-port stations. One brick — multiple USB outputs. Charge your phone, tablet, and watch simultaneously from a single outlet. For a family or a work desk — a lifesaver, because we are always short on outlets.

How to Choose a Charger

It's just a small thing, a brick is a brick — that's what they think until they burn out their battery with cheap Chinese junk. Therefore, a few guidelines.

  • Power (W). The main number. For a simple phone, 18–20W is enough. For a tablet or laptop — 45, 65, sometimes 100W. Too little power — it will charge forever; too much — it's not scary, the device will take exactly as much as it needs.
  • Fast charging standard. Check that the brick supports exactly the protocol that your gadget understands (PD, QC, SuperCharge, etc.). Otherwise, "fast" charging will work like standard.
  • Type and number of ports. USB-C is gradually replacing the old USB-A. If you have several devices — get a brick with two or three outputs, you'll save both space and nerves.
  • Protection. This is the most important thing, even though it's rarely talked about. A normal adapter has protection against overheating, overvoltage, and short circuits. A cheap "charger" without protection can kill a phone battery overnight. Not the case where you should save a hundred hryvnias.
  • Brand and certification. Yes, boring. But an original brick from a known manufacturer simply won't burn your electronics. This is the exact case where "cheap" ends up being expensive.

Speaking from experience: people come in with a new phone under warranty — and they killed it with a shady charger. Buying a decent power brick costs peanuts compared to repairs.

How Many Ports and What Power Do You Really Need

Count your devices honestly. Phone, headphones, watch, tablet, power bank — in an average family, 5–6 power "eaters" can easily add up. One brick per port here turns the morning into a line for the outlet. Therefore, a multi-port station with 3–4 outputs saves time, nerves, and desk space.

As for power — aim for the most powerful device in the house. If it's a 65W laptop, get a station that will deliver that much on at least one port. The rest will distribute what they need. The universal rule is simple: it's better to be a bit more powerful than just barely enough.

And don't mix everything with cheap cables. Fast charging only works in the pair "normal brick plus normal cable". A weak link will kill all the speed, and then you wonder why the phone is crawling, even though the brick seems powerful.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I charge my phone with a powerful brick — won't it "burn" the battery?
No, it won't. A modern gadget takes exactly as much power as it is designed to receive. A more powerful brick is simply capable of providing more — and the device will take its share and no more. So buying a power brick with a "margin" of power is completely safe.

Which is better — wired or wireless charging?
Depends on habits. Wired is faster and more efficient. A wireless charger is more convenient: put it down — it charges, no worn-out connectors. Many people keep both options at home: a wire when you need it fast, wireless — on the nightstand.

Why are cheap unprotected chargers dangerous?
Because they work without protection against overheating and overvoltage. At best — they charge slowly and get hot. At worst — they ruin the battery or even the device itself. Therefore, you should buy original chargers with proper protection. Saving money here is questionable.

Summary

A good charger means peace of mind for your electronics and a charge when you need it. Don't wait until the old brick fails at the worst moment. Choose a model, check the price and availability, or leave a request. Ready? Click "buy" — and your gadget will never be left without power again.
