ADF parts: rollers and automatic document feeder assemblies
ADF stands for automatic document feeder — the “lid” on top of an MFP that pulls a stack of pages and scans, copies, or faxes them in sequence. At home it runs once a month. In an office it runs for hours, and rubber rollers wear out fast.
Signs of ADF trouble
- paper chews on the first or second sheet;
- the MFP grabs two or three sheets at once (double feed);
- skewed scans or crooked copies;
- a sheet stops mid-path with a sensor error;
- grinding or squealing while the ADF runs.
Most of the time the fault is worn rubber, not the electronics.
Common ADF spare parts
- Pickup roller. First roller that touches the sheet and pulls it from the stack.
- Feed roller. Drives the sheet farther down the path.
- Separation roller. Blocks a second sheet to enforce single feed.
- Separation pad / friction pad. Simpler designs use a pad instead of a dedicated roller.
- Complete ADF module. Sometimes replacing the whole assembly is faster or cheaper.
Compatibility
Parts are matched strictly to the MFP model. HP ADF kits are not the same as Canon iR kits or Xerox WorkCentre kits. Ricoh, Konica Minolta, and Kyocera each publish their own P/N trees. A feeder roller is always series-specific — never “universal.”
Send the serial number or exact SKU and we’ll match rollers or the full ADF.
