The ASRock Z790 PG LIGHTNING is an ATX motherboard for desktop PCs, built around the Intel Z790 chipset and LGA1700 socket. It supports 12th, 13th and 14th generation Intel Core processors, providing a base for a build with a compatible CPU.
Four DDR5 slots support dual-channel memory. Expansion options include one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot running at x4, and three PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for add-in cards.
For storage, the board has four M.2 sockets and four SATA 6 Gb/s connectors. The M.2 sockets support PCIe Gen4 x4 drives, and one also supports SATA storage. Networking uses 2.5 Gigabit LAN; the Realtek ALC897 codec supports 7.1-channel audio. Rear connections include USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, with a front USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C connection for a case port.
