The PLANET XT-705A is a media converter that connects copper Ethernet equipment to a fiber link. It is intended for extending a network connection over fiber, such as between switches, servers and patch panels.
Its RJ45 port auto-negotiates at 10G, 5G, 2.5G, 1G or 100BASE-T. A separate 10GBASE-X SFP+ slot accepts 10GBASE-SR or 10GBASE-LR transceivers, allowing a fiber connection to be selected for the link.
With suitable transceivers and fiber, the datasheet specifies distances up to 300 m over multimode fiber or 60 km over single-mode fiber. The XT-705A can be used on its own or installed in PLANET MC-700 or MC-1500 media converter chassis.
