The StarTech.com USB31000S2 adds a wired Ethernet connection to a computer through USB, making it useful for systems that need a network port over a USB connection.
Its USB-A connection uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 and is compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0. The single RJ-45 port connects to 10/100/1000 Mbps BASE-T networks and senses the available link speed automatically. An attached 30 cm cable gives some flexibility in positioning the adapter, and the Realtek RTL8153 chipset handles the network connection.
The manufacturer lists plug-and-play operation without driver installation and compatibility with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS. The package contains one USB network adapter.
