Western Digital WD Red SA500 WDS200T2R0A is a 2TB solid-state drive designed for NAS storage. Its 2.5-inch, 7 mm case fits compatible drive bays, and the SATA III 6 Gb/s interface connects it to a NAS or other system with a matching SATA slot.
The drive is optimized for caching frequently used files, helping them load with less delay. The manufacturer rates this 2TB model for sequential reads of up to 560 MB/s and writes of up to 530 MB/s. Performance can vary with the host system and usage conditions.
With a rated endurance of 1,300 TBW, it is suited to storage workloads involving frequent reads and writes. Western Digital also identifies databases, multi-user environments, photo rendering and 4K or 8K video editing as applications where the SA500 can improve responsiveness.
