HP USB UNIVERSAL CARD READER

The HP USB Universal Card Reader X3D03A is a proximity reader for user authentication at supported HP printers and multifunction printers. It lets users present an ID badge to sign in at the device, supporting controlled access to printing.

The reader supports cards across 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz bands, with multiple card formats. Supported types include HID Prox, MIFARE, HID iCLASS and Card Serial Number (CSN), allowing it to work with a range of existing proximity card systems.

It connects to the printer by USB, with a 4-pin connection at the reader. This provides a direct way to add badge-based sign-in to a compatible printing setup.
