StarTech.com 5G2A1SGBB-USB-C-HUB expands a USB-enabled computer with two USB-A ports, wired Gigabit Ethernet and an RS-232 serial connection. It is useful for connecting USB peripherals, a wired network and serial equipment through one hub.
The two USB-A ports support USB 3.2 Gen 1 data rates up to 5 Gbps. The RS-232 connection uses a DB-9 connector and an FTDI adapter with COM-port retention, which keeps the COM port value assigned again after a disconnection or system restart. The Ethernet interface supports wired 10/100/1000 Mbps networks.
An attached 60 cm USB-C host cable has a tethered USB-C-to-USB-A adapter, allowing connection to either type of host port. A separate USB-C PD port provides up to 100 W Power Delivery 3.0 pass-through; the datasheet specifies up to 85 W for laptop charging when an external USB-C power adapter is connected. That adapter is not included.
